As far as the content, it met and exceeded expectations. Nearly every activity on the agenda was accomplished flawlessly. Some days were a little long, but the light days were great to unwind and recharge. At the end, I was tired and ready to get back to the states. In retrospect, I would have stayed back at the hotel and not gone to the cacao farm or the last Dom winter league game. The farm tour was super, but I needed the day to relax and get ready for the early morning flight. I also would have tried to learn more Spanish before the trip and the pesos system. In the DR, Americans are easily recognized. When you don’t know the language, you are really limited. . Thanks for disclosing the issues with the tour guide at the colonial area. Pure Class!
The trio of Victor, Pachy and the driver (can’t remember his name) were incredible in getting us to the destination, protecting us and intervening if we had any issues with aggressive vendors, etc. Pachy is a special human being. He was the ace translator and helped me coordinate my visit with Francisco Cabrera. He is extremely conscientious! Extremely thorough! I wish him all the best with his family.
That is about it. Don’t know if I will do it again, but that is not a negative. To me it was a once in a life time bucket list adventure.
Pachy, Shane, and Victor were our guides, helpers, and security. Pachy knows everyone in the baseball community in the DR so can always get any issues resolved. Shane knows everyone in the baseball community everywhere. Any bad actors coming our way see Victor immediately turn around and run for the hills.
We went to every stadium. Always had good seats. Crowds are always enthusiastic. Many players are ex or current major leaguers. Many others clearly will make it to the show.
Food was fantastic. Non-baseball activities were quite good. We learned about everything that happened in 1505 and even a few things after that.
The scenery is beautiful. The people are the friendliest on Earth.
Fellow travelers were great fun
Some of them were walking baseball encyclopedias.
Don't miss this.
Outstanding trip as we accomplished our goal of visiting the last two stadiums (Yokohama Stadium and Vantelin Dome) that we missed last year because of Typhoon Shanshan. Our trip was capably led by extraordinaire guide Yuri Karasawa. We saw five games -four NPB and one minor league. This schedule seemed aggressive; however, the activities were well spaced out with some much needed down time. Although this was a baseball themed tour, we were able to experience other cultural activities such as visiting Osaka Castle, a city walking tour in Dotonbori where we had a delicious okonomiyaki lunch, fluffy japanese pancakes and Creamia Soft Serve ice cream for snacks, dinner at an amazing "standing sushi bar" ("Bistro Tachizushi Kalimotxo"), and the Hirakuza Sumo Show, which was highly educational and entertaining. One of the highlights in Nagoya was the Ichiro Pilgrimage to visit the I-fain Exhibition Room, the Kuko Batting Cage where Ichiro spent countless hours honing his batting skills, and then having dinner at his favorite restaurant, Bajoyutaka Restaurant. During parts of the tour, we were joined by Chihiro Hasegawa, Trevor Raichura and Yuhei Konaka who provided our group with insight to Pro Yakyu. Overall, this tour was a grand slam success.
This was one of the best tours I have ever been on! It was great to experience Japanese culture and see Japanese baseball in person. Our guides, Yuri, Chihiro, and Trevor were amazing, and incredibly helpful in guiding us through Japan and explaining differences between NPB and MLB. Having a chance to visit the Ichiro Suzuki museum, and meet his father is something I will always remember.
The trip was an incredible experience—filled with baseball, culture, and memories that will last a lifetime. From start to finish, the planning, communication, and overall organization were outstanding. Every detail, from travel accommodations to cultural activities and tournament scheduling, was handled with professionalism and care. This trip exceeded all of our expectations, and we would highly recommend them to any family considering this opportunity.
