We had a great first experience in Okinawa and NPB spring training! Trevor Raichura, was an excellent tour manager with a deep knowledge of Japanese baseball, great communication skills in both English and Japanese, and effective management of our tour group. The non-baseball destinations were interesting and fun, especially the awesome world-class aquarium. The local guide, Marie, was very friendly, knowlegeable and helpful, and the tour bus driver, Nao, was fun and very flexible and accommodating. The hotel in Chatan was excellent, with modern roomy rooms, and a great buffet breakfast, and very close to the American Village resort area. A few areas for improvement: we did run out of time on the last day and so was not able to visit the anticipated shopping district in Naha, so perhaps the cultural/historical site visit schedule could be improved, or an extra day added to the tour. Also, our first hotel in Nago had very tiny rooms, and felt almost like living on an airplane, and didn't have any restaurants, so we had to walk quite a distance to find good breakfast places (although the one we went to was excellent!). It was right next to a nice baseball stadium, but unfortunately no spring training games were included on the tour schedule; instead we had to bus to other stadiums which seemed like a waste of a nearby facility. But all in all, it was an enlightening and well-run tour with unique and fun non-baseball activities that enhanced our baseball experience. We had a great time, and we would highly recommend it to baseball and history enthusiasts!

Baseball was great. Food was great. Our guide, Trevor, was great. Extremely knowledgeable about NBP. Always helpful. Our driver, Noh, was an excellent driver, felt very secure with him in charge of the vehicle. Marie, our local guide was great for Okinawa culture questions. Fellow travellers were great, all friendly and baseball nutty. All but one had been on previous trips, some on many. That speaks highly for the quality of these tours. My one very minor complaint was our first hotel, Phoenix Park was not very good. Cramped rooms even by Japanese standards. Very little to do in the neighborhood other than walk to Family Mart. All in all best tour I have been on since ar least 1505.

Thanks, Craig! Appreciate the kind words. We tried a new hotel and area this year for part of the tour and thanks to your and other guest feedback we are not going to repeat that part next year!

Great trip! The guide, Trevor, did a fantastic job drawing upon his extensive knowledge of baseball, Japan and Okinawa to provide valuable insights. Marie and Nao were also exceptionally professional and personable. Spring training like it used to be -- meaning not a lot of action but lots of exposure to what it's like to train in Japan. The second location, in Chatan, was incredible. Huge rooms (for Japan), balcony, ocean view and proximity to dozens of restaurants and shops. Great walking area also, Miles of picturesque sidewalks and trails along the ocean.

This was my second trip with Extra Innings Travel to Okinawa for spring training. The trip was well managed, with quality guides, and everything was done efficiently and on time. Trevor, Marie, and Nao were terrific in their roles as guides. There were also non-baseball activities - such as the aquarium and some historic locations - that added spice to the trip and helped us learn more about the history of Okinawa. Trevor, having spent a dozen or so years living on Okinawa, drew on his experiences to provide even further context.

The first part of the trip was slow. Only spring training workouts in the morning then visits to the pineapple park and the aquarium. Also, when we driving through Nago on our way to the Aquarium, sone of us noted that there was an intersquad game but we didn't push to stop there. There could have been in the itinerary. Also, the hotel rooms were less than optimal. Too small for Westerners. The morning restaurant at the nearby hotel was not an option because the local team was staying there. The restaurant was not open to the public. While in Nara, the baseball and the accommodations were much better. We saw actual games, the hotel rooms were a good size for Westerners and the buffet breakfast was wonderful. Trevor was a wonderful guide. Marie was a local who showed her expertise in local activities and was gracious to take me to a Don Quixote to buy some food. The Okinawan historian was very knowledgeable about the historical sites.
